Commenting Guidelines

The comments section is part of the puzzle. Puzzlers share solving approaches, cognate observations, historical associations, and partial pathways.

Each puzzle stays permanently active in the archive. Future puzzlers arrive later, and may read the comments before they have solved. This means the comments section works across time, not just for puzzlers who solved today.

Comments that name or reveal the answer are removed. So are post-reveal observations about the specific word’s etymology or modern usage.

What belongs here. Solving approaches, cognate observations, historical context, archive connections, respectful uncertainty. “Still unsure after Clue 5” is welcome. So is “I interpreted the metaphor differently.”

What gets removed. Answers, disguised answers, post-reveal word discussion, score-posting without observation, off-topic conversation, hostility toward other puzzlers.

Comments are moderated editorially, daily.
